Carbon is well known as the building block of life, forming complex stable molecules with other elements like oxygen and hydrogen to make what we know around us, what sustains us — us — possible.
Pak has teased long ago on the concept of carbon, saying that smaller units of $ASH is $C and that the most well ordered carbon is a diamond (May 2021):
Will we actually see diamonds? Are they NFTs?
Before stepping into speculations, here is what happened in Pak’s recent Carbon drop burn.art/drops/carbon and quite tantalizing:
Edition of 1/1 + 999 (Carbon NFTs)
The 1/1 auctioned for 25,725 $ASH with each of the 15 bidders receiving a Carbon
Half of the Carbon NFTs remaining, or 492, were sold for 600 $ASH each (sold out in 3 minutes)
Remainder Carbon NFTs distributed to the community (mods, vanguard, first 100, etc.), burners of Pak NFTs other than A Cube, and holders of Poets/FOMO
Community distributions (100) included many that were nominated and drove a previously unseen amount of organic energy, vibing, and gratitude
Carbon also accomplished several goals, including legitimizing formally $ASH as a currency and Pak as a creator who drops in $ASH:
Most striking was #5 and the IMMENSE outpouring of positive energy:

Pak has certainly strengthened the core of the community and created a flywheel of goodwill during a crypto downturn, fuel that will motivate and empower more people to be Pak Communicators.
Now, after the Carbon drop aka AshOne, Pak has over 12% of the total $ASH supply (includes 50% of the $ASH from each high-tier FOMO burn that was recently enabled):
Pak has mentioned before that they don’t want to be the most $ASH-rich account, and yet here we are. Most of the $ASH is going to Gemini for market-making and I suspect, the demand for $ASH in the coming sequence of drops (AshTwo) will exceed the quantity that Pak has. AshTwo I predict won’t be a one-and-done: it will be sequenced out over a period of weeks and some of the drops may encompass many phases that drive interesting adoption methods and discussions.
Any of the top NFT artists could easily sell a limited edition that absorbs 6 or 7 figures of $ASH. Take Raf Grassetti, for example, who released an edition of 555 tokens Coin of the Faceless for 11 $ASH with a floor of 125 $ASH. That represents a collection valuation of almost ~70,000 $ASH for which there will be, almost for certain, future value and use of Grassetti’s Coin.
And remember, Pak earned most of their 360k $ASH from ONE drop, or more precisely, HALF A DROP that sold out in 3 minutes.
We know there are probably going to be 10 NFT artists, so you can do the math:

If AshOne was about providing liquidity and rewarding the community, AshTwo is the turning point for $ASH to be widely used as a currency. As I’ve written and what flashed through my mind recently, I have never been more bullish on Pak.
Conclusions: To Be Continued
As someone said, life is about growth and if you stop growing, you’re dying. Carbon to me is more than just diamonds — diamonds alone, while valuable, are inanimate and the last thing anyone wants is a community of inanimate collectors.
In the NFT space, I believe there are too many inanimate collectors who sit on the sidelines or ask wen, wen, wen and just expect, expect, expect.
Carbon is about growth.
In my opinion, what Pak has done splendidly with Carbon is to inject a huge amount of positive energy into the community and form relationships as strong as the carbon bonds in diamonds. Remember diamonds have a cubic structure and each carbon atom joins four other carbon atoms?
Rather reflexive to see Fungible Cubes create $ASH that returns in carbon form. Each holder of the Carbon NFT is now connected to other Carbon holders from the immense amount of gratitude and energy. This is starting to sound familiar…
Bonds. Catalysts. Activation. Energy. Chemistry. Phase. Change.
Let me wager a guess: perhaps the diamonds Pak refers to are community members, Pak collectors?
And everyone knows that with energy directed properly, Carbon can also orderly bond with other elements to create new forms of life.
Fuck this was an awesome read!
